About Metabolic Psychiatry®

Merging Metabolic Health and Mental Wellbeing

Metabolic Psychiatry stands at the crossroads of metabolic and mental health. There is an emerging understanding that inflammation, oxidative stress, and insulin resistance may be at the root of some brain disorders and psychiatric illnesses. Metabolic therapies can be a powerful tool in mitigating symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other serious mental illnesses.

We study how metabolic interventions influence brain health, emphasizing reducing sugar, ultra-processed foods, and refined carbohydrates to improve overall well-being.

We also look for new ways to treat obesity. Many Americans with obesity suffer from malnutrition while consuming excess calories. We focus on serving patients with this undertreated disease by enhancing metabolic and mental health together.

Our Mission and Vision

Our group promotes Metabolic Psychiatry as a standard of psychiatric care. As this subfield evolves, we aim to serve as a free source of information for our community. We want to help everyone learn about the crucial links between metabolism and mental health.

Our mission includes sharing scientific progress and clinical advances related to metabolic health and advocating for their role in treating mental illnesses. By identifying and treating underlying metabolic dysfunction, we strive to alleviate psychological symptoms and foster a better quality of life for our patients.
